North Carolina State Senator Brent Jackson delivered the Commencement speech for the Graduation Ceremony for Tarheel ChalleNGe Class 45. Senator Jackson’s bio follows.
Senator Jackson was born in Clinton, NC in Sampson County and lives in Autryville with Debbie, his wife of 37 years. He represents Senate District 10 which includes Sampson and Duplin Counties and the southeastern part of Johnston County. North Carolina State Senator Brent Jackson is co-chairman of the Senate Appropriations/Base Budget Committee, and the immediate past co-chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Natural and Economic Resources and the Senate Agriculture/Environment/Natural Resources Committee. He is also co-chairman of the Joint Environmental Review Commission, Joint Agriculture and Forestry Awareness Study Commission and the Agriculture and Rural Caucus of the North Carolina General Assembly. Additionally, Sen. Jackson sits on the Senate Finance Committee, Rules and Operations of the Senate Committee and Senate State and Local Government Committee. In 2014, he was elected to the Legislative Board of the international organization, State Agriculture and Rural Leaders. He has been involved in agriculture for over 30 years and is the co-founder of Jackson Farming Company of Autryville. He is active in his church, Union Grove Baptist Church, and is the father of three sons and grandfather of three grandchildren.
