Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy is a 22 week resident school for at-risk teens between the ages of 16-18. We have been in operation in Sampson County for 19 years. Our first location was in Clinton. We were able to move to Salemburg in 2000 to the old Salemburg Elementary School location when a new school was built. We have two classes per year, January through June and July through December.
The Tarheel Challenge Incorporated (TCI) is a nonprofit organization formed in 1997. The purpose of the organization is to assist and support the Tarheel Challenge Academy youth program in the State of North Carolina, whose mission is to improve the life-coping skills and employment potential of high school dropouts or expellees so that they may become productive members of their communities and society in general. Tarheel Challenge, Inc. also aids Tarheel Challenge Academy graduates that continue their education at college, technical schools, or trade schools with the help of donations. All donations to the Tarheel Challenge, Inc. are tax deductible under Section 501(c)3 status of the Internal Revenue Code. We request that all checks be made out to Tarheel Challenge, Inc. and mailed to Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy, Post Office Box 39, Salemburg, North Carolina 28385 Attn: Executive Secretary. Any help you can give to us will be deeply appreciated.
