TCA New London Class 51 Completes Acclimation
TCA New London candidates have now completed the acclimation phase of the twenty-two week residential program. Candidates have adapted to a new lifestyle of wake-ups at 5:30 am, four minute showers, beds being made, barracks cleaned and ready for inspection before 8am. In the early morning hours, candidates also participate in physical training and have their morning meal in the dining facility. After “chow” it is on to life skill classes to help candidates deal with these new changes.
After the regular day is over, once again candidates make sure their barracks are in order, learn boot shining techniques, have personal time to write family and friends, more personal hygiene time and of course their favorite time of the day, mail call. At 9:30pm, it is lights out and candidates are in their beds for the much needed sleep after such a busy day.
Monday, November 5th is a big day for Class 51, the education portion of the residential phase begins. Candidates will be attending six different classes that are required to graduate from the program. These classes include Science, Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Computer Employability and Life Skills. The candidates are excited about beginning this phase and knowing that at the end of the week they will see their families for the first time in four weeks at the class drill and ceremony competition and family day visit.
