TCA NL Blood Drive

As part of the service to community requirement, TCA New London Class 52 cadets will hold the semi-annual Red Cross blood drive Saturday, July 20 from 9am to 2:30pm. The blood drive will be held in the academy gymnasium and donors can sign up for appointments ahead of time by visiting the Red Cross site and entering 28127 as the chosen zip code.

Blood supplies become dangerously low for all blood types during the summer months, the need is often higher than any other time of the year and the Red Cross is making a special plea for donations to help avoid critical shortages. Those who wish to give at the TCA blood drive will be eligible to give regular donations as well as “Power Red” donations. Power Red is similar to a whole blood donation, except a special machine is used to allow you to safely donate two units of red blood cells during one donation while returning your plasma and platelets to you.
