Salemburg Tarheel ChalleNGe Candidates Transition to Cadet Status
Over the past four weeks, candidates at Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy (TCA) have worked tirelessly to overcome obstacles and hardships during the program’s rigorous Acclimation Phase. Adjusting to 5:30 a.m. wake-ups, enduring frequent and often grueling physical training, and pushing through sore muscles was no easy feat. For many, the challenge once seemed impossible.
On Friday, August 8, 2025, the candidates participated in a formal Phase Change Ceremony, where Assistant Commandant Mark Ladson officially elevated them to the status of Cadet. All 73 candidates met the strict criteria to earn this honor, proving their determination and commitment to personal growth.
Now, as Cadets, they will continue their journey of redirection—building discipline, resilience, and the skills needed to create more positive opportunities for their future.
